The elephant in the room is often the tension that exists between Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia (East) and Westminster Seminary California (West). That tension centers around the relationship between two doctrines: union with Christ, and justification. Listen in as Lee and Chris discuss this in a way that is intended to be fair to those with whom we disagree and magnifies Christ at the same time. You’ll have to be the judge of whether we accomplished that or not.

Lee has done a fair amount of reading about the Eastern Orthodox doctrine of theosis. As we discussed our way through Images of the Spirit, it seemed like there were some point of similarity between what Kline was seeing in the Scriptures about the Glory-Spirit replicating his image in human beings in terms of physical luminosity, and the Eastern Orthodox doctrine of theosis. We thought we would explore this idea in this episode.

This episode covers the fourth and final chapter of Images of the Spirit. Here Kline focuses on the significance of Genesis 3:8 and the day of judgment. Even if listeners are already aware of how Kline understands this, it is a prime example of how Kline’s attention to both the context (forest) and the vocabulary and/or grammar (trees) provides fresh insight into the biblical text.
